To this day, there are still many misconceptions, stigmas and myths regarding sexually transmitted diseases. The cloaked figure in the illustration has something of a double meaning - that of the aforementioned misconceptions, and of the idea that without proper testing and communication between partners, no one truly knows who does and does not have some form of STDs. I imagined the illustration as a dust jacket for a book that would seek to educate about - and against - the misinformation and stigmas surrounding STDs. The full title of the book is Lifting the Cloak: Removing the Stigma of STDs.
